Estimated implementation time: 60–90 minutes, plus any account approval time
Today’s outcome: You will finish with one ready affiliate account, a tested tracking method, a campaign spreadsheet, and compliant disclosure language.

Earnings disclaimer: Results vary and no level of income is guaranteed. “500/day” is a planning target used to teach campaign math. Your result depends on traffic, offer fit, conversion, refunds, skill, consistency, and market conditions.

Step 1 — Understand the commission path

An affiliate campaign has five moving parts:

  1. A person has a problem or desired outcome.
  2. Your content helps that person understand the problem and possible solution.
  3. The person clicks your bridge page or affiliate link.
  4. The affiliate network records the referral using your tracking link.
  5. If the person buys and the sale remains valid, the network credits commission according to its rules.

You do not control every part of this process. You can control the audience you choose, the usefulness of your content, the clarity of your recommendation, your link setup, and the tests you run.

Action

Write one sentence and save it in your campaign folder:

“My job is to help [specific person] make a better decision about [specific problem] and track whether my recommendation helps.”

Step 2 — Set up Digistore24 for your first campaign

Launch your first campaign with one carefully chosen offer in one Digistore24 account.

Digistore24 setup

  1. Go to Digistore24 and create or sign in to your account.
  2. Complete the requested profile, tax, and payout details accurately.
  3. Switch from Vendor view to Affiliate view if needed.
  4. Open Marketplace and confirm that product entries and their metrics are visible.
  5. Open Sales & partners and locate the area used for vendor partnerships or content links.
  6. Save your Digistore24 affiliate ID in 02 Links and Tracking/ACCOUNT-DETAILS.txt. Do not store passwords in this file.

On Digistore24, clicking Promote now may create the partnership immediately or send a manual approval request to the vendor. The individual promolink appears after approval.

Checkpoint

Do not continue until you can answer yes to all three:

  • I can sign in to Digistore24.
  • My legal, tax, and payout details are accurate.
  • I can open the Digistore24 marketplace.

Step 3 — Learn Digistore24 promolinks

Digistore24 promolink

A Digistore24 promolink contains the product ID, your affiliate ID, and an optional campaign key. Use the campaign key to label traffic sources.

Example convention:

YTReview0801 or EmailDay2

Digistore24 advises using the normal promolink rather than a generic link shortener because transformed links can interfere with tracking.

Action

Create a text file named TRACKING-NAME-RULE.txt and record:

channel-asset-date — lowercase, no spaces, one unique code per placement.

You will generate the real link after selecting an offer on Day 2.

Step 4 — Install the campaign tracker

Open worksheets/campaign-tracker.csv in Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers. Make one row for each unique link placement.

Track these numbers:

  • Views: people exposed to the content
  • Link clicks: visits sent toward the campaign
  • Offer-page clicks: clicks from your bridge page to the vendor
  • Sales: credited purchases
  • Gross commission: commission before refunds or chargebacks
  • Refunds/chargebacks: commission reversed
  • Traffic cost: advertising, creator, or placement cost
  • Net commission: gross commission minus refunds and traffic cost

Use these formulas:

  • Content click-through rate = link clicks ÷ views × 100
  • Bridge click-through rate = offer-page clicks ÷ link clicks × 100
  • Sales conversion rate = sales ÷ offer-page clicks × 100
  • Earnings per click = gross commission ÷ offer-page clicks
  • Net profit = gross commission − refunds/chargebacks − traffic cost
  • Return on ad spend = gross commission ÷ traffic cost (only when traffic cost is above zero)

Step 5 — Add the disclosure and truth standard

An affiliate relationship is a material connection. Disclose it clearly where people will notice it before or next to the recommendation—not hidden in a footer, vague hashtag, or terms page.

Short disclosure for posts and emails

Affiliate disclosure: If you buy through my link, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.

Longer disclosure for a bridge page

Affiliate disclosure: This page contains affiliate links. If you purchase through one of these links, I may receive a commission at no additional cost to you. I only recommend products I believe may be useful, but you should review the vendor’s claims, terms, refund policy, and suitability for your situation before purchasing.

Your non-negotiable truth checklist

  • Do not claim you used a product if you did not.
  • Do not invent results, testimonials, scarcity, bonuses, or endorsements.
  • Do not promise income, health, legal, or financial outcomes.
  • Do not copy the vendor’s strongest claim without checking whether it is supportable.
  • State important limitations and who the product may not suit.
  • Use only brand assets the vendor permits affiliates to use.
  • Follow the affiliate network, vendor, email provider, social platform, and advertising platform rules.
  • Obtain permission before emailing people and include an unsubscribe method in commercial email.

Step 6 — Set your starting constraints

Choose your boundaries now:

  • Initial budget: $0 organic-only is acceptable. If using paid traffic later, set an amount you can lose without hardship.
  • Weekly time: Choose a realistic number between 3 and 10 hours.
  • Primary channel: Choose only one for the first 14 days—YouTube, short-form video, blog/search, community content, or an existing permission-based email list.
  • Review date: Set a date seven days after launch to review data.

Write these four decisions in CAMPAIGN-CONSTRAINTS.txt.

Day 1 completion checklist

  • I set up Digistore24 for Campaign 01.
  • My account profile, payout, and tax information are complete.
  • I can access the marketplace.
  • I understand the platform’s affiliate tracking link.
  • I created a tracking naming rule.
  • I opened the campaign tracker and understand its columns.
  • I saved a short and long affiliate disclosure.
  • I selected one traffic channel, a time budget, and a review date.

Quick knowledge check

  1. Does a high commission guarantee a profitable offer? No. Offer fit, page quality, conversion, refunds, and traffic quality also matter.
  2. Should two different placements use the same campaign key? No. Unique labels let you identify winners.
  3. Where should an affiliate disclosure appear? Where it is clear, easy to notice, and close to the recommendation or link.
